“You’d think someone died in here”
As a child, I grew up going to funerals from as far back as I can remember. I can remember clearly, walking into a funeral home and hearing my mom whisper to me, “You’d think someone died in here.” Death, my parents taught me, was a part of life. That may seem trite and simplistic, but it’s true. Somewhere along the way, many people seem to not understand this, but thankfully, Chelsea seems to breathe this truth and make it part of who she is and how she lives. As a result, we can be blessed with the gift of her sense of humor, combined with the perspective that comes from walking the dark hallways where death sits, waiting for us all. Instead of taboo, Chelsea treats the inevitability of death with an amazing balance of gentleness and hilarity. My mom often said, “We don’t need to find more reasons to cry... life gives us plenty of those. We need to look for more reasons to laugh.” Here, you’ll find many reasons to laugh. - Tim
