Eco Evolution – Reconnecting Culture With Nature, With Osprey Orielle Lake, founder of the Women’s Earth and Climate Caucus
Description
This program explores the relationship of human culture with the natural world, both through the lens of art and culture, and through the experience of education and on-the-ground-actions. Osprey Orielle Lake is founder of the Women’s Earth and Climate Caucus (http://www.iwecc.org), a solution-based alliance fostering resilient communities and promoting a post-carbon economy and energy future, and is the author of the recently published book, Uprisings for the Earth: Reconnecting Culture with Nature (http://www.amazon.com/Uprisings-Earth-Reconnecting-Culture-Nature/dp/097452459X). In this compelling conversation Osprey, who is also an accomplished sculptor, shares her early inspirations that led to her pioneering work on behalf of the natural world, argues that we must change our internal landscapes (our values and perceptions) before we can effectively address the external world, and offers many examples of evolutionary initiatives such as the growing legal movement to defend the Rights of Nature. She also describes the educational programs and political influence of the WECC, and suggests other resources and ways to engage in the growing transformation of culture. A common thread in Osprey’s work is the empowerment of women and the elevation of the feminine of as we re-establish our relationship with Mother Earth.
