“Sounds like I’m listening to a robot that’s lost touch with reality. “People are having less children, because it’s no longer economically advantageous to have them. As it becomes cheaper to use machinery, advanced economies will see declines in birth rates” I don’t think this is why people are having less children. I think it’s more to do with the increasing gap between costs of labor and costs of living than it is with child labor losing its spark. Employers rather buy a machine than pay living wages. Because of profits, that’s a more realistic assumption for the decline of birth rates. I’ve been listening to this podcast (and others) for a while now to learn a bit about economics but some eps are getting harder to digest.”
