“If you’re a history buff fascinated by Ancient Egypt, or planning a holiday in Egypt, you’ll find the Egypt Travel Podcast full of absorbing and useful information, presented in a lively and knowledgeable way by John Nicholson who runs his own tour company and has travelled extensively in Egypt.
The podcast is dazzling in the array of practical advice on when and where to travel, how to get around, where to stay, whether a guide is necessary, and how to avoid scams. It’s thoroughly researched and based on years of practical experience.
I particularly appreciated the advice on travelling to Egypt during Ramadan, and on what to see in the old and overcrowded Egyptian Museum in central Cairo, as well as updates on when the magnificent new museum in Giza is expected to open.
I’d love to hear a program on walking around the area encompassing Coptic Cairo, Old Cairo and Islamic Cairo. From the little I know, it’s filled with a staggering array of atmospheric laneways, bazaars, mosques, tombs, churches and small museums such as the Gayer-Anderson museum and the textile museum.
The Egypt Travel Podcast is a great way for arm-chair travellers to immerse themselves in a far-away destination, or for travel planners to get some serious advice.”
