ethnocentric history?
Having listened to all three episodes I’m increasingly concerned at the whitewashing and downplaying of the British treatment of the Indians but also the subtle undermining of Indian view of events (the Indians are continually presented as exaggerating atrocities). I’ve been an avid fan of Dalrymple for years but because of this podcast he is losing credibility with me. I believe he displays bias and blind spots that were once acceptable but not in 2022. Perhaps the hosts could invite historians to represent those cultures that were colonialised so the history told is more holistic?
