Perhaps what makes Encounters such an effective show are not just the content, but the hosts themselves. Amanda and Dakota have wonderful radio voices, they can switch between smooth and concise, to chilling and serious, to ambient and light hearted.
What differentiates Encounters from other podcasts most especially, is how with each episode, the line between the reality of fact and the mystery of fiction starts to blur. I think Amanda and Dakota themselves struggle to decide if these supernatural occurrences actually have merit. Which in itself is an outstanding way to tell a story, albeit a horrifying way as well - leaving listeners anxiously laughing but all the well contemplating that these paramount situations may have happened.
If you are looking for a light hearted, informative, and entertaining approach to the supernatural, I highly recommend you give Encounters a listen. Apart from other supernatural shows out there that have a hard time balancing tone, Encounters does a fantastic job of keeping listeners entertained, philosophical, and on the edge of their seats without getting too uneasy.
