“In the show about Olga of Kiev you stated that Olga is one of only 5 women bestowed with the title ‘Equal to the Apostles’ by the Orthodox Church - that is incorrect; there were at least 7: Helen, Mother of St Constantine the Great - commemorated May 21; Mary Magdalene - July 22 & the 3rd Sunday of Pascha (Easter); Nana, Queen of Georgia - October 1; Nina, Enlightener of Georgia - January 14; Olga, Princess of Kiev - July 11; Photine, the Samaritan Woman - February 26 & the 5th Sunday of Pascha; and Thecla the First Woman Martyr - September 24. Your statement implies that the title ‘Equal to the Apostles’ has been given to male Saints many more times, but I could only find 7, the same number as the women. My source is the Index of Saints from The Great Horologion, translated from Greek and published by Holy Transfiguration Monastery, Boston, MA. In the show for January 1, in which you talk about the calendar and why the year begins on January 1st, you mention that January 1 is a Christian holy day - aka feast day - that used to be for the Circumcision of Christ but now is just the Solemnity of Mary. You should know that the Orthodox Church, which is the 2nd largest body of Christians in the world, still celebrates the Circumcision of Christ along with St Basil the Great on January 1. I’ve never heard of the Solemnity of Mary - it must be a Roman church holy day similar to the Synaxis of the Theotokos (Mary) which is celebrated in the Orthodox Church on December 26.”
