Not a safe space.
I can’t support and feel the need to warn about the toxicity of Free and Native and Lacy Phillips, after the recent shocking censorship of BIPOC and allies in the Free and Native Facebook group. As a seeker, member of the wellness space, and especially as a white woman, I strongly believe that it is more important than ever that we use our voices to amplify and support BIPOC. This is the exact opposite of what has happened in the F+N group. Beautiful, constructive discussions on race and feminism were deleted and the members involved were censored, gaslit, and blocked en masse. The message is clear: toe the line and discuss the white wellness world in exactly the terms Lacy deems acceptable, or be silenced. So much emotional labor by BIPOC and allies to share resources and uplift the conversation on the importance of intersectional feminism in today’s world were deleted in the name of Lacy saving face and preserving her brand after her first Expanded podcast with Jenna Zoe showcased her own white tears/centering, lack of acknowledgement of white privilege, and her dangerous dismissal feminism. People over brands, always. While the Free and Native brand can and has deleted and edited that podcast for the harmful content, deleted & blocked hundreds of former supporters, censored important conversations, and strangled new conversations, that fact remains. There’s nothing free and native about this brand, which churns out content and products from a white, CIS perspective while encouraging spiritual consumerism and guru-worship above doing the real, important work we’re all seeking.

Comments on FB, Instagram were also deleted. Said she was “sad” to be in a white woman’s body,...Read full review »

I get so excited when a new episode lands! These are really beautiful and thoughtful conversations that I’ve taken so much away from. Sometimes it’s a little out of my comfort zone or raises my skepticism when the “spirituality” feels too far fetched, but overall these are amazing conversations...Read full review »
