The Cinema of Mad Men continues, with “The Crash” and Richard Lester’s Petulia. In the classic season 6 episode, the office is visited by a Dr. Feelgood, Don retraces his sexual pathology to his childhood, and his kids get burglarized. In the 1968 film Petulia, George C. Scott and Julie Christie strike up a post-screwball romance from hell in the hippest, strangest parts of San Francisco. Infidelity, drugs, and the commodification of counter-culture are all over this pairing.
