Hailing from rural Madhya Pradesh, Sushma's journey to success has been marked by determination, passion, and unwavering support from her family. She remembers how she first discovered Blind Cricket and how this revelation opened up a new world for Sushma, and she embraced the opportunity to represent her country in blind cricket. Sushma's cricket career took off in 2022 when she represented her State Madhya Pradesh in the inaugural National championship. In the subsequent national tournament, she playing as captain of the Madhya Pradesh team displayed her batting prowess, scoring an unbeaten century of 124 runs against West Bengal, 50 against Karnataka and 59 runs against Gujarat. . Given her outstanding all round performance and impressive leadership she was appointed as captain of the Indian team that played an International series against Nepal. Sushma's journey has not been without challenges. Losing her eyesight at a young age due to an accident, she had to overcome difficulties in her studies and adapt to a new way of life. With the support of her family, teachers, and her own determination, she completed her graduation in Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports, staying true to her dream of representing the national cricket team. Despite setbacks, Sushma remains optimistic about her future and is committed to advancing her cricket career while continuing to support her parents. She encourages young blind girls to stay strong and urges parents to nurture their children's dreams, be it in academics or sports. Sushma's journey as the captain of the Indian women's blind cricket team continues. With the World Blind Games approaching in Birmingham, England, the team is ready to showcase their talent and compete against Australia and England. Sushma's belief in the team's preparedness and their exceptional fitness level fuels their determination to bring the trophy home to India.
