This is not journalism
Is there an interesting story here about workplace culture and the media’s complicity in propagating negative self-image for women? Of course. But the journalists have ZERO good sources, a weak thesis and a flawed understanding of cause and effect (ex: “Me Too” did not create store closures; a shift in cultural attitudes as well as bad press helped diminish the value proposition of the brand and that had financial consequences — but so did other things). Once again, Harman frames a story according to a catchy narrative rather than doing the reporting FIRST and then seeing where the story takes her. And this is why I stopped listening to Grigoriadis’s “Tabloid.” This is a GREAT example of what’s wrong with a lot of podcasts and they should know better. Boo.
