Fantastic Fights indeed!
If you have any level of nostalgia for spending time being lost in the maze of Zagor, hunting down a yeti in the icefinger mountains, or trying to remember what lurks in the Mammon room, all within the confines of green covered books, then this is a podcast for you! Our host HJ Doom is affectionate and semi proficient towards each book as he presents an attempt to complete it honestly first time out. Well mostly honestly. At least he’s honest about when he’s not honest :-) The play is followed by analysis and thoughts on the book, which for me is just as interesting and entertaining as the adventure. The whole thing strikes a good balance between informative and amusing. HJ is a knowledgable guide, not always about the specific book plot, but about the construction and mechanics of them, which makes for many interesting insights. He branches into several different book series in bonus episodes, from the sublime to the ridiculous, and gives them all a good shake. All in all if this hobby interests you in the least and you don’t mind some spoilers, or you want to relive or explore books that you can’t manage to collect yourself, this is well worth your time.

More reviews of Fantastic Fights
H J Doom plays through the Fighting Fantasy books with a wonderfully dry sense of humour and ends each play through with insightful and well expressed analysis of the book. The bonus episodes are a treat too - I highly recommend this podcast for gamebook fans.

I wasn’t young enough to get into these books when they came out but listening to you playing them & reviewing them is proving very interesting
