Great Info. Thought Provoking!
Really good podcast. I heard Dr. Wilgus on a Focus on the Family broadcast. Then I found this podcast and starting listening to it. I also just ordered his book! Really good insight and advice for raising teenagers. It will challenge your perception of what teenagers are. They are not older children. They are young adults. And the way we approach handling the last several years of their time with us the parents is a big deal of course. For a while now with our 17 year old I felt that we should be doing things differ t / better than how we had been doing things since he was little. I just couldn’t put my finger on it! The. I heard Dr. Wilgus’s views on several areas of the teenage life and it made a lot of sense. We aren’t the police for them anymore, we are judges. And we don’t want to raise an obedient adult. They should have learned obedience already through childhood. We want to raise a responsible adult! So… take a listen. I started with episode 1 and then just kept going. Open your mind to what he says and ask yourself am what I am doing working and is my teenager on track to be a responsible adult or just a big child. If it’s the latter, then consider I implement what he teaches. i’m looking forward to trying some new things. And if you knew me well, that is saying a lot because I really really don’t like change. Lol. Happy, listening!
