Episode 286
Im glad Dennis clarified his views on pornography and adultery. I wish he might’ve mentioned the negative effects (sin aside) of porn but I understand that’s not the entire point of the podcast. I appreciate the communication. The only thing that was really odd to me was the following remarks: Time stamp 7:37 “Avoiding pain is not the purpose of life, the purpose of life is to lead a full life, as rich a life as possible. By the way since I am a big Bible fan, that’s what the garden of Eden story is about. Adam and Eve opted for the pain of life rather than the idyllic non pain life of the garden of Eden. They said we want to live a life with free will, free choice, good and evil, over a life of eternal bliss, innocent bliss if you will, they chose a full life, they chose a full life over a safe life.” Living a life of safety as the epitome of living is wrong, I agree with Dennis in that matter. God calls us to service and devotion not safety and comfort. Not to say you should endanger yourself (as Dennis points out with the seatbelt). However, that is the opposite of the garden of Eden story. They had a full and rich life prior to the fall. They had “no shame” and had personal relationship with God in a perfect paradise. They had a full and pain free life. “They said we want to live a life with free will, free choice” they already had free will! That’s how they made the choice to sin in the first place. They sinned and didn’t trust that God was enough, so they chose to trust their own judgment over God’s. That’s the whole point. They were not just in some mere “idyllic non pain life, they were literally in heaven on earth: in perfect relationship to each other and God and they *still* messed it all up. Everything got worse after they did that. We are separated from God, there is now pain, disease, shame, death, grief, sadness, discontentedness, etc. Now it is true that we can have joy without pain, we can find joy in the midst of our pain; but they existed with joy and no pain, they were in a place of total satisfaction and yet the human heart is so depraved we still chose wrong. That’s why the Holy Spirit is so necessary, without it we are blind, with hearts of stone as the Old Testament says. I’d encourage you all to read a book called “more than a carpenter”. Jesus is the only way for remission of sins and the way to heaven, every book in the 39 books of the Old Testament points towards a messiah. I plead with you. I really appreciate prager U standing up against the nonsense of this culture and fighting for the morals and virtues that made our country so great; that some are so actively trying to destroy. God bless you all!

More reviews of Fireside Chat with Dennis Prager
Why are people taking relationship advice from someone who’s been married and divorced three times? Isn’t that the same as taking marital advice from someone who couldn’t keep theirs together?

Dennis, you say, calling Leftism “Progressive” gives progressivism a bad name. But “Left” sounds like one of two equivalent choices - like Coke or Pepsi - Left or Right. If that is not true, what in essence is Leftism? Thank you.
