Wonderful people renewing older entertainment
I thought I had written a review ages ago, but I guess now is my time to shine. If you’re interested in older forms of entertainment, such as old radio plays, then this podcast is for you. FMT manages to spin a new tale every month, keep it interesting and spooky, provide a couple of laughs, and keep the charm of old time-y radio. Other fiction or serialized podcasts I’ve listened to feel boring to me because their writing and acting is just so– normal. Something you can find anywhere, and especially on tv. FMT is the exact opposite. Their acting and sound design goes all the way, some might even say over the top, to make it sound different and special. I haven’t found a single podcast that compares to Fireside when it comes to the appeal of old radio dramas. I had the pleasure of meeting the (almost) entire cast and crew when I took a leap and decided to make the 8 hour trip from Maine to NYC to see them perform live, and I can easily say it was one of the best experiences of my life. Since I’ve been listening for around 4 years the voices of the actors almost because a comfort to me, and every new episode was like being wrapped in a warm hug. I felt like I knew everyone, and the spooky stories provided by the wonderful writers inspired me to write spooky stories of my own. Those will never see the light of day. Every person involved in making the show are genuinely kind and exciting to be around. They welcomed me with open arms, and even the people behind the scenes and in the audience made me feel at home. It was an experience that I’ll never fully be able to describe, but can only think to say that it’s magic. If you want good stories by good people, listen to Fireside Mystery Theatre.

Great stories from a talented cast. Faves: Ali Silva sounds like a film noir femme fatale, and James Reiser's voice is a blanket to wrap up in. Whether they're visiting haunted New Orleans (Southern Gothic) or portraying feisty retirees (Love After Death), the cast immerses themselves and...Read full review »

I couldn't get through the first episode, "Southern Gothic" (I'm from the south and the fake southern accents were totally cringeworthy 😂) but once I skipped it and moved on to the next one I absolutely loved it. Campy, spooky and highly entertaining!Read full review »
