Description
It's a full-on British Week on the podcast. In this episode, I talk with Aleks Dimitrijevic, and on Friday, you'll hear from filmmaker Ava Bounds. What an exciting week to discover the future of filmmaking.
The British Film Institute's Future Film Festival is accepting late submissions until September 13th. As you hear from program director Aleks Dimitrijevic, the program is unique globally and if you qualify within the age range -- 16-25 -- you should certainly want to participate. Aleks does an amazing job on selling the program that only needs its facts to sell.
In this episode, we talk about:
how her "heart has always been in film festivals";
her work at the British Film Institute and the qualifications to participate in the Future Film Festival;
how 16 year olds are graded differently than 25 year old participants and the unique way in which they judge participants -- it's conducted by a team of young programmers "who are themselves within this age range."
London (and the UK at large) as a hub for filmmakers;
what she sees about Generation Z and Generation Alpha as creators and their technical skills;
how their unique model feeds into their careers as filmmakers;
and all the ways you can apply for the Future Film Festival.
We conclude by talking about what the future of the festival looks like and Aleks amazing work at Carousel. This is a whirlwind, couldn't be brighter look at the future of global filmmaking.
