“My grandfather was drafted into WW2. He met Hitlers sister in pardon my spelling, Burchess Garten. She was crippled with arthritis and she was in a wheelchair. She and my grandpa made friends and she said her brother was a jerk. I’m paraphrasing. My grandpa was the kind of guy that Jew no strangers. His greatest compliment was that somebody was “friendly”.
He would say “it don’t cost anything to be friendly “
He’d go to the grocery store to buy milk and come back with ice cream.
Where’s the milk, grandpa?
“Well, I started visiting with this old boy..”
Who? “Some old boy”
The same guy edited my history books with corrections and at the same time claimed to be illiterate.”
