“Soon after a natural disaster the details of what happened and how the damage from it could have been mitigated are forgotten. We remember the loss of friends and family but forget the total costs both human and financial. It seems that this cycle is repeated over and over. The time to prepare for the COVID-19 virus has passed, but this time let’s not forget that 1000’s of lives could have been saved and the devastation to our economy that could have been prevented by better planning and preparation.
Let’s hope The Atlantic can cast the same observant eye on the COVID-19 virus as it did with Katrina so that America will be better prepared for the next disaster that will surely come.”
