Engrossing, but ultimately imbalanced
I work in disaster recovery and talk to vulnerable people every day who struggle to recover from disasters. While systemic failure is usually present, it was definitely the case in Katrina. This pod is very well made and fascinating, but ultimately fails to seek the truth of what happened and hold all parties accountable - just the ones the narrator wants to hold accountable. It relies only on a few interviewee’s hearsay and personal opinions. The amount of credence given to the levee being ‘blown up’ with no pushback or addition of real facts to the discussion was too much. Good overall, but not quite the level of analysis and investigation that would’ve been required to make it a home run and a true story of what happened to these communities.
