An Absolute Delight
Mark Alpert and John Anker Bow have what every good podcast host team needs: chemistry, witty banter, and terrible musical numbers from terrible musicals. Mark and John both have incredible knowledge about musical theater, which is what makes listening to them as a “layman” so much fun - whenever they mention a name or show I don’t know, they can connect it all back to another musical or another composer or performer that I do know. They both have incredible wit and charm and real care and excitement about the subject matter while also having the research and historical knowledge to put these shows into social context. John Bow’s silky smooth deep voice also ranks among my highlights for the show. I also just love hearing about bad musicals and why they were bad - was the show ahead of its time, or was the show just terrible? 10/10, I will be listening to every episode!

More reviews of Flop of the Heap
I get more info and retain what these two share better than the History of Musical Theatre class I took for my major. Bravo!
