Codependency 101
I’m fairly new here but have concerns - a lot of these ideas are not new. They have been around the church for a long time and were taught in a very damaging way. This podcast seems to straddle that fence - teaching older ideas while referencing new ones but not necessarily in the correct context. I’ve heard co-dependency mentioned twice now completely inaccurately. Ideas that a woman has to meet a man’s needs or it could push him to an emotional affair but she must speak up and advocate for her own needs cause he can’t read her mind are the types of things that put women into the fear that can cause codependent behaviours to emerge. This is just one example of several things in this podcast that are dangerously straddling the fence of helpful or damaging depending on experiences people have had. Most people who are looking for relational “help” are coming from a place of struggle. So far, this is not a podcast for anyone who has come from abuse, codependency or has escaped damaging relationships.
