“Hey Jonathan,
I want you to know that I have been enjoying your podcast “For the Long Run”. I learned about it through listening to the URP interview.
I have always loved running, and I ran my first trail 50K last December. I am currently training for another trail 50K for this October and potentially considering a road 50 miler in December.
Anyway Sunday was my 28th birthday, and of course I did a long run because one of my favorite things to do is to run to see the sunrise on the beach. (I live in flat Florida)
I felt pretty inspired and wrote some words. Thought you might enjoy...
10227
I have been alive for 10227 sunrises.
I love that each one is different.
There is always a new day,
and chance to do it again,
to see things differently.
Long runs fuel my love for this earth.
It’s something many people
won’t ever experience.
To feel completely depleted,
like you can’t go on...
but you do.
You endure the struggle.
You lean into it.
Just one step at a time.
You move yourself
through this beautiful world
that engulfs you,
and you push to explore,
to seek more adventure.
It’s just you and Mother Nature
celebrating a new day.
A birth day.
Today is my 28th year.
I can’t wait to continue to embrace
what else this world wants me to see.

Best,
