Great Rides, Great Banter
I’ve been a fan of the Watcher network for years, and I love theme parks, so I picked this show up. Byron and Ryan both share a love of the parks and of the rides they discuss, and both have opinions and tastes that differ enough to offer contrasting views and value different aspects of a ride. The fun facts they open the episodes with are, indeed, fun, and I always appreciate it when hosts are will admit they weren’t able to verify some things. (I am surprised the “people are always scattering human remains” urban legend didn’t come up in the Haunted Mansion Ep, though!) The only criticism I can impart is on ONE piece of criteria used for the World Class Attraction test…the “Hollywood” test. This is a fine test for parks like Knotts or Kings Dominon, but it is increasingly rare for the big studio affiliated parks to put in a ride that ISN’T based off a movie. For the sanctity of the World Class Attraction crown, I feel like there should be another test that can be subbed in for this on rides based on movies. That being said, I don’t think it should be entirely discarded, because I do love the discussion it generates on rides where it’s less 1:1. All in all, love the show, love the guests, and I love hearing the memories other people have about these rides. Keep up the good work! PS- Ryan, I hope the reviews here are showing that you definitely have more than one person who only listens to the audio :)

Love the history and the insights that Byron and Ryan (and weekly guests) have to offer about the rides each week. It gives me a newfound appreciation of the rides, whether I’ve never ridden them to have them committed to memory. I always look forward to a new ride every week!

Some of the rides I haven’t ridden nor care about, but I want to hear every minute. They give a comprehensive history and a pretty solid rubric to determine world class. Only bonus question I’d add would be “do you talk about it when you get home? Would you recommend it to someone asking you what...Read full review »
