Has 4 star potential if the host hones this one skill. Which is totally doable.
Will definitely adjust my review if and when… It takes exactly 0 talent to read a transcript. It is so boring to listen to someone drone on like reading me a shopping list. It’s too robotic. Tell me about these cases. Conversationally. Don’t read them to me. That aside, the host doesn’t cuss, is respectful of the victims and their families, editing is good, mic and sound quality is good. They just REALLY need to learn how to read and not make it sound like you’re reading. Narration or oral interpretation classes could help. Though, the quickest way to make a dramatic improvement would be to do your research, read through your transcript before recording, and then just tell us (rather than read to us) about the transcript and refer to your notes rather than reading it. Or quit relying on a transcript at all and just make a bulleted list and refer to that, as you are recounting the case. This will change your tone, your inflection and will make it a richer podcast. And this can definitely be 5 star potential once you learn to add more color. Whether about the history of the area of story, more background on the ppl involved (to help us ‘get to know them’ and connect). Keep going. There is so much right about this podcast-it has good bones.
