Hammy voice actors are unbearable
I am a big fan of Generation Why and I find this case fascinating, so I was stoked to discover this podcast. But like so many Wondery podcasts, the bulk of the podcast is voice re-enactments in this cloying Olde Timey Radio Drama style. Despite the actors reading from the real trial transcripts, they sound completely cheesy and fake. Video clips of the main players in this case are widely available online and they sound nothing like the voices on the podcast — most have at least a hint of a regional IL accent. I’m a few minutes into episode 2 and not sure I can continue. Another Wondery podcast unsubscribed.

The case is interesting but the reenactments are brutal. The acting is HORRIBLE and it takes away from the actual story because they’re so cheesy. In any future podcasts, either find some better actors or just omit the acting completely and just have the story narrated.
