“The Now Show is one of, if not, THE best podcast available from the BBC, closely followed by Russell Brand and Chris Moyles. It is slightly better because it is out and out pure comedy packed in to 20 something minutes. Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis are great comedians, with songs from Mitch Benn and Marcus Brigstocke appearing now and again, this is a must-have podcast for anybody with a sense of humour and a knowledge of current affairs.
However, I would like to point out that The News Quiz is not so funny. This program is specifically targetted at the Radio 4 audience, ie, educated. I am not a Radio 4 listener and sometimes do not comprehend what the hosts are talking about. The format is a bit dated too, just the same as Have I Got News For You, just less funny and not as accessible to less educated people.
The Now Show should run every week, with no breaks, they are too good to have breaks!”
