“While this ended earlier this year, I only found it a couple weeks ago when I decided to do a rewatch. Finding that I was breezing through the series I wanted something more and happened to see it mentioned on old reddit threads.
I would highly recommend the podcast to anyone going through a rewatch or even a first run. As aspiring screenwriters, Dan and Chris offer a unique perspective on how well the episodes are put together that I mostly found very interesting. I was always curious how they would process certain episodes. I enjoyed listening to them break down specific scenes between Walter/Peter and Peter/Olivia. They catch the nuances that the actors brought to the roles. And the podcast really soared during this analysis. The second half of season 3 was a bit tough to listen to as they found lots of inconsistencies in the plot that they broke down in detail. To be far, the whole soul magnets arc is a rough sequence of events that I can’t really justify. I do wish sometimes that they could step back and maybe enjoy the ride a little more, but to each their own.
They do miss some connections, but also explain in the first episode that this isn’t a research based podcast. They discuss the episode and try to fill in the connections to the best of their memories. But that didn’t stop me from yelling at my phone when they missed these connections.
Overall, it is a great podcast. Be ready for some tangents. Stories about their girlfriends (who appear to be saints). There will be connections to other shows and just some plain rants about other shows. Chris’ quote of the week songs are a highlight, especially in the finale episode. I know far to much about Chris’ showering habits and what the bathrooms looked like in their previous flat but their stories are hilariously told. But mostly, it made me think about and experience Fringe in a different way and I really appreciate that. It’s not often that new insight and content can be found about one of my favorite show 5.5 years after it finished and I was genuinely sad when it was done.
Thanks Dan and Chris!!”
