Trigger Warning. Episode does mention Suicide in regards to movie story line. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 800-273-8255 It’s a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed was not a box office hit.  So how did it become a family tradition over the holiday season? Tamantha’s family has watched this movie annually beginning it Christmas Eve night before bed and finishing it Christmas morning.  If you haven’t watched this film in a while or not at all it’s a bright light amongst the Holiday romcom’s and salacious favorites.  This movie is nostalgic yes, but it is also delightfully funny, romantic and suspenseful as George Bailey discovers why his Life is IMPORTANT no matter the dramatic situation he finds himself in on Christmas Eve. Find out why this movie resonates today and is worth a watch. Christmas Punch TheBusyBaker 1 cup apple juice 3 cinnamon sticks a few whole cloves 2 star anise 4 cups cranberry juice 1 cup pineapple juice 1 cup orange juice 2-3 cups champagne - ginger ale Orange slice, cinnamon sticks, cranberrries, pomegranate arils & star anise for garnish. The day before you’ll be making the punch, open the lid to the apple juice container & place the cinnamon sticks, star anise & cloves inside.  Replace the lid & put the apple juice in the fridge overnight. The next day, add the apple juice to a pitcher or punch bowl along w/the cranberry juice, the pineapple juice & orange juice. Add the champagne or sparkling  wine, if making an alcoholic version or ginger-ale for non-alcoholic punch.  You can also use ginger beer. Stir well to combine and add the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, pomegranate arils and star anise to the pitcher or punch bowl for garnish. Add ice and serve. We mixed spices and juices  in a pitcher the night before our episode recording.  Before this episode we poured juice in glasses and topped off with ginger ale then garnished with orange wheel, pomegranate arils and cinnamon stick.  It was gorgeously festive and tasty.
