Philadelphia Society: Deepening the Intellectual Foundations of a Free & Ordered Society
Listen now
Description
On this episode of Future of Freedom, host Scot Bertram talks with Allen P. Mendenhall, Associate Dean and Grady Rosier Professor in the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University, Policy Adviser for the Heartland Institute, and former trustee at the Philadelphia Society. He also will serve as program manager for the Future of Freedom Fellowship Program at the Philadelphia Society.  The Philadelphia Society is a membership organization of "scholars, educators, journalists, business and professional leaders, clergy ... all dedicated to the goal of deepening the intellectual foundations of a free and ordered society and to broadening the general understanding of its basic principles among the public at large." Mendenhall talks about why the "collision of thought" can be helpful, how young scholars are introduced to free market ideas, and why we should listen to voices from the past when considering the future. Also, why is simply gathering information not enough to be considered "educated"? You can follow Allen on Twitter at @allenmendenhall.
