Everything is Going to Be Fine
The Paradox on Our Plates ended on such a blandly positive note that I actually feel alright about my choice to keep eating meat. I try to buy “ethically raised” stuff — organic, free-range, grass-fed, etc etc — but I know that this isn’t truly possible at the price I’m paying (my brother runs a small farm, and I know what meat from properly cared-for animals ends up costing. I can’t even afford that once a year at Thanksgiving.) Why do so many podcasts just wanna make us all feel like everything’s going to be ok, we don’t *really* need to make any personal sacrifices? We’re not children, needing constant reassurance that whatever choice we make is the right one....are we? Sad that some shows care more about being palatable (!) than standing behind what they believe in.
