S2 Ep24~ Are the Gilmore Girls “Pick-Me Girls”?
Listen now
Description
Are Lorelai Gilmore and Rory Gilmore so-called “Pick Me Girls”? Not like other girls? Cool girls?  Jackie and Catherine are parsing through many complicated pop culture labels, how they apply to our favorite Gilmore Girls, feminist takes, and the misogyny behind the name “pick me girl.” Whether or not Meredith Grey invented it, this term has taken on a life of its own. We get into 2000s pop culture and music influences, like Sex and the City, Avril Lavigne, Pink, and even Taylor Swift.  Plus, lots of discussion about some of the side Gilmore characters, like Shane, Nicole, Lindsay, and even the Stars Hollow moms. As Miss Patti would say, “buckle up!” It’s gonna be a big one. 🔎Remember, this is not a spoiler-free podcast, so everything is on the table!  🎙Produced with support from Studio 20 South.  🎨Cover art by MGI Studios. 👋We’d love to hear from you.
