History is a rolled up carpet you carry around with you
Stumbled on this great podcast on Wondery and thought, Ooh! A ghostly story for spooktober! But what I listened to was a family’s story of identity, and how the reality of a revered elders past can be clouded by investigative truth and how a forgotten victim can become an inspiration to successive generations. Examined by journalist Tristan Redman who is related through marriage to the story, the narrative unfolds through unbelievable connections and ghostly experiences in his youth. A really thought provoking look at how the linear nature of one’s history (ie my grandparent were this and did that) can be disrupted and what that means for our personal identity in the here and now. Highly recommend

I’ll probably update this with more detail once I’ve finished processing, but I’ve just finished the final episode and WOW. I absolutely loved this storytelling and binged the entire series in a day.

Perfect mix of spooky and true crime. Well researched, balanced, and intriguing!

It would have been interesting to see the comparative stats. I suspect the murder of one’s wife by the husband is far more common than murder between siblings.
