In this 10th edition of Girl Monster radio (corona special), guest host Unnur Andrea Einarsdóttir makes a zoom call from Norway to Berlin, where she has a lengthy and in-depth conversation with Icelandic musician Salka Valsdóttir. Salka is a rapper, producer and sound engineer that began her career in an all female rap group named Reykjavíkurdætur (daughters of Reykjavík). The band was a big success in Iceland, but we look into some of the darker sides and challenges that come with being a female voice in an otherwise male saturated hip hop scene. We also discuss her work as a music producer and how her search for artistic autonomy and being in control of sound can open up possibilities, both creative and personal.
