5 star concept + intentions, 4 star execution
In a more forgiving and compassionate political/media climate I would round up to 5 stars for a project that is this intelligent, engaging, and well-intentioned—but the shaming of non-normative sexual preferences/practices and the erasure of the lived experience of people whose sexual identities determined their categorization within a statistical minority is too important to ignore or to condone, however unconsciously or unintentionally that shaming or erasure happens. Rachel and Laura: the constant centering of your own cishet female (and to a much lesser extent, white and educated and privileged) perspective is 5/5 feminism—but it is 4/5 intersectional feminism, 4/5 ethics, and 4/5 sex positivity. No reasonable person would expect you to speak on behalf of populations you don’t belong to, and no reasonable person would expect “PhDs on Porn”-level content from a “Theater Girls on Porn”-level podcast, but I think it’s worth keeping in mind that your most marginalized and at-risk listeners need all the compassion, understanding, solidarity, and support that you can give them. If you care enough to make a change, a conversation with a trusted non-female identifying committed intersectional feminist friend re: how you might do better might prove to be beneficial. Again, very much enjoy the podcast and hope you will take this criticism with all due respect and that you will continue to build on the good work you’re doing. 💙

I never fail to laugh and learn something from this show. It is great to hear the female perspective to one of my favorite consumables. Keep up the good work.

I ADORE this podcast so much. I make erotic art and consume a fair amount of pornography and like many I find myself bummed and sometimes...often repulsed by the sheer amount of gross porn that exists. That’s why when I discovered this podcast I just fell in love instantly. Lauren and Rachel...Read full review »
