“The title comes from the three participants: Jonah Goldberg, Rob Long, and John Podhoretz--that is, G, Lo, and P or "GLoP."
Okay, that's all about the title. About the podcast: it is excellent. There are plenty of pop culture podcasts out there. Probably too many, but most simply reprise the week's events and make jokes already made on Reddit or Twitter. GLoP aims a little higher, featuring a mega-fanboi (Goldberg), television producer (Long), and film reviewer (J-Pod). Each bring a strength. Goldberg is current. Long is very "inside." J-Pod has an encyclopedic knowledge of media history.
The three men are also quite conservative, giving the podcast a spin that other lack (others being apolitical or progressive a la Daily Show).
If you like the conservative angle, then you'll like the podcast. Early on, I found J-Pod dominating conversations a bit too much, and I think the three made a conscious effort to keep J-Pod's rambles to a minimum. Goldberg can sometimes go several minutes without saying anything. I attribute problems like these to inexperience and the difficulty of coordinating conversations over the internet.
Now that they've gotten the bugs out, the podcast is the best given by the site Ricochet. It has the right balance of content and personalities. Highly recommended.”
