“Just listened to the giraffe episode. So, bush poaching is maybe justified if the local Maasai get the meat because it’s better than leaving the carcass to rot on the savannah and the Maasai are nutritionally deprived so eating giraffe meat is good for them. The Maasai have herds of cows and a diet around them. Why do they need to eat bush meat? It is not even part of their tradition. And cleaning up a carcass on the savannah is the job of hyenas, vultures, and jackals, not humans. Strange for a wildlife biologist not to acknowledge this. So was the emphasis at the end on how much more important people are than animals. It is our species creating the horrors on this beleaguered planet, on each other, and on the non-human animals who share it with us. Was enjoying the series but can’t listen any more.”
