Real life, real death, real loss
Thank you for your memoir of your experience of Russell’s illness and death, and the time after. The time following the death of someone is often forgotten by those around the people grieving, and it’s assumed you’ll just ‘get over it eventually’. Anyone who’s had an experience such as this knows only too well there is NO getting over it - ever. You’re changed forever in ways you never imagined or expected, and so are those around you. I have worked as a nurse in oncology and palliative care for almost 30 years, and I can’t believe there is still so much ignorance and fear abounding. Your story surely will help so many people to share their pain, memories and experiences. I do hope so. I would love to know how you’re travelling in another couple of years too!

I have never lost a spouse, but listening to this podcast allowed me to process emotions from the death of my mother over 45 years ago. It was healing to hear Sophie talk about her feelings, and made me more compassionate for others going through this journey, and for myself as well.

Heart wrenching to listen to, but also stunningly beautiful. A loving candid portrayal of a time I hope I don’t have to experience.
