Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel: The Inspiring Life of a Dedicated Rabbi
Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel (12 March 1943 – 8 November 2011) was an incredible American-born Haredi Litvish rabbi and rosh yeshiva (dean) of the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem, Israel.
Under his guidance from 1990 until his passing in 2011, the Mir Yeshiva flourished into the largest yeshiva in Israel, boasting 6,000 undergraduate students and over 1,600 married students 3. He inspired over 25,000 students throughout his lifetime.
Despite his Parkinson's disease, which he suffered for 28 years, Rav Finkel continued to learn Torah for hours, give lectures, and raise funds for his yeshiva worldwide. He presented a breathtaking $500 million for the Mir Yeshiva during his tenure as rosh yeshiva.
Rav Finkel was a prominent member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah and was known for his vast Torah knowledge and warm and caring demeanor towards his students.
