Finally
My sphere of life has always involved large groups of rangatahi. And one thing they have always appreciated is big sisters, aunties, mothers & grandmothers to look up to. They want to see themselves in somebody older than them. An example of ageing without fear & shame. I even had a kotiro the other day say, “if I can be like you at 50, I’ll be so happy.” Awesome right!? And yet, I proceeded to tell her all the wrong things about me being 50. Frick, I should have just said, “Thanks! Life is good over here.” They want to know that life is good in their later years. Gosh, we hide our age in many forms and won’t even put 50 candles on our cake to celebrate such a milestone. So how do they know it’s good if we don’t let them see. Thank you for this podcast, freeing, encouraging and made my day. LOVE IT!

These are wonderful ideas but Petra in her enthusiasm talks far too much. If she could only remember “it is not about me” and let her interviewees just tell their story. Such a shame as the idea behind these podcasts is a brilliant one.
