“Jordan decided to officially switch the show to the influencer marketing model and start pushing brands. The podcast has had sponsors in the past, which is fine, of course - but I don’t think I want to pay money for the “privilege” of being an advertising target. Consider this: a self-described organic guy is now pushing a synthetic nutrient line. I get the appeal of having and monetizing “followers” in this new advertising-centered popularity-contest economy, but come on, you don’t have to make it so goddamn obvious.
And if you don’t mind being seen as a consumption bot, there are better podcast deals out there anyway, namely DGC. They at least have a vibrant community around them, and don’t seem to withhold informational content from non-members.”
