So this is now officially a product marketing podcast...
Jordan decided to officially switch the show to the influencer marketing model and start pushing brands. The podcast has had sponsors in the past, which is fine, of course - but I don’t think I want to pay money for the “privilege” of being an advertising target. Consider this: a self-described organic guy is now pushing a synthetic nutrient line. I get the appeal of having and monetizing “followers” in this new advertising-centered popularity-contest economy, but come on, you don’t have to make it so goddamn obvious. And if you don’t mind being seen as a consumption bot, there are better podcast deals out there anyway, namely DGC. They at least have a vibrant community around them, and don’t seem to withhold informational content from non-members.
