Benjamin Madley is Associate Professor of History and Chair of American Indian Studies at UCLA. At thie event, he discusses his book, An American Genocide, The United States and the California Indian Catastrophe, 1846-1873. And as an historian of genocide, he shares his extensive research into the relationship between Indigenous people and colonizers. An American Genocide: the United States and the California Indian Catastrophe, 1846-1873 is published by Yale University Press is highly acclaimed and has been reviewed in the New York Times, Newsweek and the Nation.
