Born on June 30, 1973, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, DeRose developed a passion for fishing at a young age. Growing up near the banks of Lake Ontario, he spent countless hours honing his skills and exploring the bountiful waters of the region. DeRose's talent and dedication to the sport led him to pursue a career in professional fishing as he competed in various fishing tournaments, earning accolades. With his extensive knowledge of different fishing techniques and species, DeRose continues to expand his learning covering both Freshwater and Salt, from small streams to offshore pelagics.  In addition to his success in sport fishing, DeRose is recognized for his work in television.
