“I have mixed feelings about this podcast. I am a huge Hallmark fan and desperately wanted a podcast to augment my viewing. So happy when I found this podcast and for the most part I really enjoy it. However, this podcast which is not an official podcast of Hallmark gets off brand and they have guests on here that you wouldn’t see on Hallmark and there are views expressed on here that you wouldn’t hear on the Hallmark and if I’m listening to a podcast about Hallmark I want it to be consistent with Hallmark.
I also can’t listen to this podcast with my children around because of what some guests might say.
Oddly enough all of the cohosts are mindful of being on brand except the main cohost. One of the most alarming things about this podcast is that there is one episode in which a Hallmark writer discusses a tragic brutal murder of her family before launching into the film she wrote. It’s her story to tell, but if I want it that type of story I will listen to the news which I don’t. Hallmark is my happily place but this podcast is not. I would’ve appreciated a warning in the show notes that this episode would discuss a real murder. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think that type of information is appropriate for Hallmark podcast.
Smaller things that I tried to overlook are the fact that they don’t always talk about Hallmark, I am not a Harry Potter fan and they discuss Harry Potter and other types of movies I have nothing to do with Hallmark or even romantic comedies or mysteries. If they’re going to discuss other movies they shouldn’t called themselves Hallmark, for example.
The last straw for me is when one of the guest professor being an atheist. Hallmark is not a religious-based channel but they certainly are advocates for faith as I am… I’m not overly religious but if I want to hear atheist talk I will find that podcast. I unsubscribed and decided to look for another Hallmark podcast. And I found another one which I think will do a better job of staying on brand.”
