“Dear Louise and Ryan. Firstly, thank you for being so open and candid about your relationship. I can only imagine the pain you must have been and are still I would imagine going through. I’ve been in my relationship for nearly 30years. Met him when I was 19 and he was 29! Had a daughter, just the one, 17 years in, can’t quite believe she is nearly a teenager! But gosh what a journey relationships are. Communication is such an important skill and I must admit I haven’t always known how to do it for the best and tbh I (we) are still working on it. Especially more important now for us as we want our daughter to see us as positive communication role models. So much of what you are saying rings true for me and I know for so many others. Can I also say that peaks and troughs are a natural process. We see it in the natural environment so why would human nature be different. One thing I came to realise many years ago, when my daughter was a toddler, you can never maintain the peaks! It just isn’t possible. So embrace them and accept there will be troughs to follow. The side by side talking is such a great tool. I use it with my dad, my friends, my students! (I’m a high school teacher), my partner (we never got married!!! but I still got the ring, the baby and a house!! ha ha) and my daughter. Teaching her how to be confident in her self is one of my biggest challenges yet, but do you know what I am so up for it. Keep talking and thank you again. I can’t wait to follow your journey. Give little Leo an extra hug. I’ll give Elise one too xBeckx”
