“It was time to update my original review after binging season 2. Season 1 was a Right of Passage and as Kaelyn gracefully put it: “Found a home in the hearts of listeners”- and I was no exception to that. This current season is no joke (even though the dark humor is there, and I am 1,000% here for it). The stories and topics are darker and elicit even more chills through Kaelyn’s storytelling and cadence. Heck, even the theme song and intro still gives me chills at times. Without doubt, episodes will make your heart start pounding. Leo is the perfect compliment to Kaelyn’s vibe, always there to interject with validation of what many of us listening may be thinking and feeling. Kaelyn’s research into the stories she investigates, especially the Gungywamp episode, can truly inspire a person to investigate if their own local lands have a story to tell. Love getting to know Leo even more every episode from her horrifying experience of raccoons living in her vent to her obsession with spiders at the age of 2. The perfect one-liners in between stories is a testament to the skillful editing. I hope to someday hear even just morsels of the thought-pieces left on the cutting room floor. But it’s this flawlessly placed comedic relief that leaves our community as listeners with an unspoken bond through the inside jokes we all now share with Kaelyn and Leo. For full effect, listen with noise-canceling headphones, on a stormy night, in a dark room with a candle or two lit. 🕯️”
