“This podcast really lifts my spirits and puts wind in my sails.
I have been teaching myself Hebrew for about 8 months now, primarily through Duolingo (about 70% done).
I cannot really follow anything designed for Hebrew speakers, not even podcasts for kids. Perhaps I could follow pre-school level content, but that is terribly boring for an adult. Audiobooks too, I could not get past even the first paragraph of Harry Potter.
The “Hebrew Time” podcast blew my mind because I CAN FOLLOW IT!!! Do I understand every word? No way, but I get enough to be fully engaged with what Nadya is talking about.
Nadya has somehow masterfully crafted these episodes with meticulous attention to:
- speaking clearly and slowly
- using vocab an intermediate learner would know
- explaining words we might not know and giving synonyms we probably do
- producing interesting insights into life and culture in Israeli - like the episode on “Milky”, love it!
There are also transcripts, so after you listen you can read them which is also amazing because you find you can follow quite easily once you have heard the episode.
I have found nothing else like this. It is the first time I have followed more than a sentence of Hebrew. I am overjoyed and it is helping me tremendously.
Thank you so much Nadya - I would love more of these but I guess I’ll just listen to them over and over. If you start again make sure you set up Patreon or something so we can support you.”
