In Ancient Greece, Goats were given as Awards to those who merited them. In our present times the Awards are given wrong in choice. #meghanmarkle gets them! What does that say about the people who give them, who are they? I have recently seen #jessicachastain as Nora in #adollshousebway A Doll's House on Broadway directed by Jamie Lloyd and I had a moment of understanding that majority of the audience do not know how to respond to brilliance in ACTing work. The re-imagining of this classic play was a rare theatrical experience of brilliant work on the part of the entire collaborative team. If we were to be exposed to that kind of work more often we would be more inclined to appreciate it. We are not. As I was sitting there as a member of that audience it made sense that rarity is hard to understand when we are often slapped with mediocrity. Some of the audience response to the moments in the play were so off!!! So it makes sense that the people giving awards to #archetypespodcast must be the same audience members who are more familiar with mediocrity than with brilliance. It is no longer the fault of the receivers of these unmerited awards but more the fault of those people giving them.
