“If you want to fill your week with hours of Pokémon content, even in times of news drought, this is the podcast for you. Being able to access the great Pokémon minds of LumiosePost and SoulSilverArt is always entertaining and a privilage. Their theories and knowledge is the perfect foundation to build a podcast upon.
My biggest complaint is with the main host DustyGogoat. A good host is supposed to bring out the best of any given conversation but unfortunately this is where the podcast falls short. They all interrupt each other mid sentences, Dusty more than the others. Since this is recorded via the internet there’s a bit of lag which makes discussions unbearable when they constantly interrupt each other. A host that likes his own voice a little too much when he’s clearly the least knowledgeable of the group isn’t the best look.
This podcast is also filmed for YouTube. Unfortunately they don’t respect audio listeners as much. They can do a tier list and talk about several Pokémon without ever saying their name. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve heard them talk about things they see on screen, without me as a listener knowing what they look at. That is Dusty’s responsibility. Describe what you see, don’t interrupt your co-hosts and make sure audio listeners can follow. Please and thank you!
Hopefully he will improve his craft. He has been blessed with a great podcast voice so there are positives if he figures it out. And to be fair he does have the hardest role. The content is entertaining in spite of its flaws and the trio has very different takes for the most part which makes for great discussions and you as a listener can always side with someone. But as for now, ”PKMNcast: It’s Super Effective” is still the best Pokémon podcast in town.”
