“I really enjoy this podcast, but in one of the episodes (about the dumb but hyper successful 18th century merchant) the discussion of corsetry came up, and was then incorrectly described. Corsets don’t “crush your ribcage” and not all are meant to be push up bras. The era in question was one where stays (the earlier counterpart of corsets) were what was used. Just google a picture of them and you’ll se the different between a corset. They were meant to be shaping and supportive, while being attainable by all classes. Later decades corsets were meant to produce different silhouettes. If you are going to talk about corsets, please describe the accurately.”
