Kamaiyah took the hip-hop scene by storm when she emerged with her hit "How Does It Feel." But she started with humble beginnings going through the foster care system in Oakland. Inspired by people from Missy Elliot to 2pac, Kamaiyah started writing poetry at a young age and eventually working with local rappers like DB The General and D-Lo. When she started dropping her own solo projects, this eventually led her to sign a record deal with YG's 4Hunnid Entertainment. Although she created hits for YG and Drake, and had an album in the works with Kehlani, she grew frustrated with the label situation and went independent. Now Kamaiyah continues to put out her projects independently and prove why she is one of the most unique voices in hip-hop today.
